Autograph Letter Signed, 3 pages, Fort Worth (VA) July 24th 1864 from Jacob Seery Co. C, 136th OH Inf. to wife. Soldier writes that he has received letter, learned that wheat was cut and now in shocks, does not know return date, will come as soon as he can when time is out, lack of rain and is dryest time there ever known, is a short letter as others waiting to write on the table etc.
“The boys ofour neighborhood are about all able for duty. Wm Tippin (also in 136thOH Inf., Co. C) is not able for duty yet but is on the mend. I think he will beable for duty in a few days if he does not get a back set.”
