* Up for sale here is an interesting looking western sparkling cider bottle, which more than likely was fermented and contained alcohol. Bottle would date from 1864 to 1868. This nice bluish aqua colored example is in very good condition, despite a small blended in side of lip chip, and a slightly buffed top. This was done long ago. The flat polished chip is on the back side of the applied lip, as this is all clearly shown in my last gallery picture above. There is also a small flat inner base chip as well, which also is on the back side. The bottle is a bit hazy and fuzzy, but this is minor, and would easily tumble up to sparkling condition. There are many nice bubbles in the old glass, and this scarce bottle displays handsomely overall as it sits.

*It is crudely embossed on the shoulders, with the crossed anchors in the center. It reads ~ \"* CLASSEN & Co. * / (crossed anchors) / SPARKLING CIDER\". This bottle held \"Anchor Brand Sparkling Cider\" which was manufactured, bottled and sold by Classen & Co. in San Francisco, California in the 1860\'s. After 1868 Classen entered the real estate business for many years and stopped bottling. This interestingly shaped bottle measures 7 3/4 inches tall, and 2 1/4 inches in diameter. It is more narrow than a typical soda bottle from this era. Has that nice nautical theme to it, with the ship anchors. You will be very well pleased with this neat piece of San Francisco history, and from the west.
