This attractive antique circa 1890\'s Masonic Knights Templar Sword was crafted in a much regarded tradition that encompasses the mysticism of early Templardom and Freemasonry. One might not realize that each quillon on the hand-guard has a hidden triangle. This sword follows the rare two-loop requirement and therefore does not have a third middle scabbard loop. The tradition of certain Templar Commanderies required that their swords should be worn in the upright position only and not slant backwards. Therefore they had the loop on the middle mount removed the so that the sword gets attached to the belt by the top two loops. The entire sword deals with tradition, spirituality and ancient history. This sword is well over 100 years old and is in good vintage condition with some normal expected age wear. There is some oxxidation and corrosive spots on the otherwise attractive scabbard. The blade has greyed and there is some oxidation, but it is strong and solid. The grip has a few minor scuffs, but is actually quite handsome. Age issues are common with such old swords. There are no serious problems. The sword appears to have elements of silver, brass and enamel. This is a well crafted artifact featuring many fabulous symbols. This is a very attractive collectors item. The name of the original owner is etched onto the blade (also on the scabbard), as is the maker\'s mark. The sword in its scabbard measures approximately 36 ½ inches. Alone, the sword is around 35 inches. The blade is about 28 inches.
