$375.00

For sale is a wonderful set of hammered copper bookends made by Craftsman Studios of Los Angeles, Ca. The bookends each measure roughly 4 1/16 tall, 5 9/16\" wide and 2 3/4\" deep.

This set of bookends each has a wonderful centered hand hammered copper background texture. There is a geometric border with a rivet pattern inside surrounding the hammered pattern. The center hammered area is bowed out like a bay window. There is an Arts and Crafts design that resemble a \"Tree of Life\" design. The background surrounding the tree is done in silver. The top corners are rounded and the bottom rolls out and back under for the tongue that goes under the books. The patina is a beautiful Craftsman Brown with highlights of green on the bottom tongue that slides under the books. The is a brown felt attached to the bottom of each bookend so it won\'t scratch the surface it sits on.

This set of bookends are in very good to excellent condition as there are no cracks, chips or major dents to the metal. The bookends show typical signs of age use but nothing to obtrusive.

The bookends are each signed on the tongues top right hand corners with the impressed \"Craftsman Studios Los Angeles\" signature mark inside a anvil and a hammer shape above that also impressed into the metal. There is also an original label affixed to the bottom of one of the bookends and this is pictured.

Craftsman Studios was an Arts and Crafts era copper craft shop that started in Brooklyn, NY in 1917. They moved to 2818 S. San Pedro Street in Los Angeles California in 1920 and again to Laguna Beach in 1929-1930. They operated through the 1950\'s into the 60\"s out of Los Angeles and Laguna Beach,California, They produced hand wrought copper home and gift wares, occasionally working in brass and silver. The Laguna Beach building was destroyed by flooding in the 1960s.

Purchase with confidence as these bookends will enhance any Arts and Crafts, Mission style decor. It will look outstanding on that Stickley bookcase and will work just wonderful with that matte green art pottery collection.
