ca1930 CANVAS TIGHT NAVAJO RUG 47x32 Native American Indian blanket Ranchfolks:

Offered here is a circa 1930 dandy canvas tight woven Navaho weavingthat measures 3 feet 11 inches long by 2 foot 8 inches wide or 47” x 32” and is in very good toexcellent condition. It was hand-wovenby an expert weaver on a primitive upright loom of all Native handshorn, handcardedand tightly handspun long staple Churro and Merino quality sheep wool, bothweft & warp. This is a great oldIndian rug that should wear like iron for years to come. 95% of its useful life left. Design is a nice concentric serrated doublediamond layout with fine serrated saw-tooth side borders.

We recently obtained this vintage Native Americantextile on a rug hunt here in New Mexico just to offer you here on . It has a tight, very firm weft countaveraging 24 per inch and a warp count of 5 per inch. The selvage cords are all in original,excellent condition. Warp selvages are2-spiral cords and weft selvages are natural weft loop finished around the outsidewarps. The corners are all four tight, originaland in excellent condition. The tassels are all 4 replaced and excellent. It has not been cleaned, is fairly clean& comes from a non-smoking home. Thereare about half a dozen ¾” or smaller soiled spots and one ½” rust stain in onecorner. The whites should brighten witha wash later on if desired. Both sidesare shown in photos above. Colors areexcellent in this piece of old American Indian art and they are: hand carded and blended natural grayishbrown, ivory white & dark chocolate brown to black along with hand dyedaniline cardinal red. Complete with lazylines, this example of very nice Native Americana is ready to tuck away inyour own private rug & blanket class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"tab-stops:.75in\"><> <> <> <> <><> <> <> <> <> <> <> <><> <> <> <> <>
