The box bottom is intact, some paper lace still around the edges.
But the cover is not as good.
It is intact, but the side corners are separated.
The graphics, however, are amazing and exquisite.
The Victorian children gathered around the lighted and decorated tree is so precious.
I am fairly certain that this box dates back to the 1880s.
Each candle is 4.50" in height.
There aretwelvecandles in the box still left after all these decades.
Candles
are the spiral type—supposed to be less wax drips.
This is what we used before the advent of electricity.
These fit intopinch on and clip on candle holders being also listed this week.
Many familiesthought that electric lights were too dangerous, and clung to theuse of candles.
That happened in our family.
Really not that dangerous,
but always a pail and water nearby.
I am old enough to remember candles lit on
my grandparent’s tree who clung to the German tradition of lighted candles.
There is nothing wrong with these early 1900s candles other than age. In fact, they are in very good shape. They are vintage, not reproductions. I guarantee that. I start all my sales at .99 cents as it is an sale and I just never cared when I went to live sale and the saleeer started very high, and then spent time backing down to get a offer.
