4th Chasseurs Canadiens

The Canadian Chasseurs (Chasseurs Canadiens), a Volunteer Militia unit, was raised in November 1861 by Judge Michel Coursol, a leading Montreal jurist who led them against the Fenian Raids of 1866 by Irish Republicans based in the U.S.A., many of them former Union soldiers in the American Civil War.
