Cannonball - Two Pound Solid Iron Shot - Fort Pitt Squaw Campaign 1775:

Here\'s a great historical original piece, one of three recovered from the historical site of the \"Squaw Rebellion\" campaign in New Castle, Pa. (now private land), which took place in 1775. The historical record shows that a reluctant group of militia men out of Fort Pitt were sent upriver with cannon and arms to stop a reticent group of native Americans from their yearly southern migration down the Shenango River from where they were being forcibly camped. Shots and cannon were fired from the river onto the hillside (Atlantic Ave.) as they traveled, and a few of the women and older natives were killed. This particular shot was dug from the site on the hillside at a depth of two feet, found with a metal detector.
