1864 albumen stereoview published by the E.& H.T. Anthony Company, New York. This is from the series of Anthony stereos called \"The Great Metropolitan Sanitary Fair.\" It is view # 1706 and the view title reads: \"Department of Arms and Trophies, View down the South Aisle, looking West.\" This fair was produced by the U.S. Sanitary Commission, a private relief agency that was created to support sick and wounded soldiers of the Union or Federal Army during the American Civil War. It began on March 28, 1864. The view seen here shows Confederate Flags and firearms displayed against the back wall. I can see at least one Confederate Army of Northern Virginia pattern battle Flag near the right side of the view. Also, there is a U.S. Flag visible that was used for decorative purposes. Numerous muskets, swords and handguns are affixed to the back wall. The prints on this stereoview are in Fine Condition and the 3-D depth is Excellent.
