Signed Steuben

Globe LUMINOR

Frederick Carder design 1928

Let there be LIGHT!!

Consider this rareauthentic originalearly 1920's signed Steuben Globe Luminor. It will cast a sparkly glowing light on your entry foyer console, the library table or your guest bath. A very specialdesign from the Art Deco era by the renaissance master glass artist and Steuben founder,Frederick Carder--it excels in all settings.

A heavy5 pound globe is formed using the controlled bubble technique, which leaves uniformly spaced bubbles in the glass. Into this 2300 degree Fhot glass globe five large teardrops are mouth blown representing a fire's flames. Thislarge globe (about 5 inches in diameter) rests in a square heavy black glass lamp base, as shown in the Gardner* reference book. A candelabra bulb and fitting is in the base housing and the lamp's switch is in the wiring cord. This is a working lamp, but since it is very old it should be checked over by a lighting/electrical specialist in order to insure it meets up to date safety codes and for your own well being.

This authentic Steuben Globe Luminor is in superb vintage condition. There are no chips or other damage to the black glass square base, the original lamp parts are all there and it appears to have been rewired for safety. The crystalglobe is in excellent condition with only two tiny eight of an inch chips at the bottom lip edgewhich is fitted into and hidden by the base. The globe is marked with the Steuben "fleur de lys" mark on the base bottom, which I could not get a decent photo of. Includes FREE INSURED shipping. This will be a wonderful addition for the Steuben collector.

Steuben Glass was founded by Frederick Carder in 1903. Itwas the world's foremost artisan glass house. Steuben glasswas hand made by American craftsmen at the works in Corning NY. Because it was hand made, each piece is unique. Steuben glasswas frequently the United States’ gift of State to foreign dignitaries. Steuben marketed no “seconds”. Items that did not meet their exacting production standards were destroyed by being smashed in a bin. Steuben is a luxury brand and the ultimate in art glass.
