This antique 14k yellow gold shoe horn was made by Gorham and designed / signed by Cartier in 1900. It is part of a vanity set that now includes only the shoe horn and a perfume / cologne bottle (the last image here is of the bottle, please see item 360878156464 for more details). The initials on the top of the handle are LCL for Linda Lee Colgate. Linda Lee Colgate was married to Henry Colgate of the toothpaste empire. Her aunt was Linda Lee Porter, married to Cole Porter. Linda Lee Colgate was my grandmother, so I can guarantee that this information in correct. The markings are along the edge of the shoe horn, as seen in the photograph. These markings are: Gorham 14k G 1900 Cartier. The markings following the Cartier signature appear to be 2 3 9 3. The shoe horn measures 7\" long, 1 3/4\" wide and 1/4\" high. The weight is about 74g (the gold value is about $1800.00). It has two dents along the bottom front edge. It has a round mark from a piece of felt along the bottom back edge. It has a ~1/2\" dent along the back base of the handle. It has a double dent (~1/2\" and ~1/4\") at the top back of the handle. There are a few small scratches. The shoe horn could easily be repaired and cleaned by a professional.
