About us

After enduring the hardship of World War II the late Martin Kaminskycame to NYC with a background in watch repair and a helpful hand at providingassistance to those in financial distress. After finding a suitable location hehad created Gem Pawnbrokers, in Brooklyn, NY in 1947.

The beginning

From that time onward, David Kaminsky, Martin’s youngest son watchedand learned the tools of the pawn broking trade. He diligently studied hisfather’s entrepreneurial mannerisms, and older siblings adaptations into thebusiness, graduated from NorthEastern University, and then gradually developeda plan to go off on his own. Having built many new stores for his father, andthe conducting of operations under his belt, David held all the ingredients necessaryto create a successful pawnshop; in 1996 EZ Pawn Corp was formed.

Since that time

David has been able to watch his business cultivate, as his dream tocreate his own truly became a reality. To this day, EZ Pawn Corp recognizes itsoriginal family foundation within the pawn-broking industry, and as David’schildren grow and mature they soon will be able to carry on the company name.Lauren, David’s daughter and recent Boston University School of Managementgraduate is the first to enter the business and is currently Vice President ofMarketing and Operations. Jason’s, David’s son was next to join, after hisrecent graduation from Pennsylvania State University. He has assumed theposition of Vice President of Operations
