Antique Hand-Carved Walnut - MUSEUM QUALITY - Black Forest - Finest LARGE Frame:
$395.00

You are offerding on a large, antique, hand-carved Black Walnut picture frame. If you are looking for a museum-grade frame for your large, nature-related watercolor, print, or poster...you could not find a finer frame!
Size: c. 42\" x 29\". Sight, c. 21\" x 33 1/4\". Matted to, c. 19 1/2\" x 32\". Rabbet, estimated c. 22\" x 34 1/4\".
Age: c. 1890-1910
Condition: Excellent. Unquestionably museum-quality condition. Some very light scuffing on edges. Age appropriate patina (rubs/darkening in spots) on the gold gilt. Verso, dust cover ripped/taped; could benefit from new dust cover.
The gold gilt on the inner edge has that edge darkening/spotting that one always looks for, and is found on frames of this type, in the world\'s finest museums. Please believe me when I say (and I am not prone to exaggeration), if you have a large, nature-inspired watercolor, or lithograph, you would be very hard-pressed to find a finer frame in which to display it. Art nouveau subject art would also look fabulous in this frame. Additional ULTRA high-definition photographs available upon request.
The glass is excellent/no issues.
Quality: Phenomenal. Intricately hand-carved black walnut. Could comfortably hang in any museum in the world.
Style: Art Nouveau. Nature-themed. Hand-carved branches. While classifying art into various styles/eras/periods is somewhat subjective...this frame would also fit extraordinarily well with the Black Forest motif, and style.PROVENANCE: Stellar. This black walnut hand-carved frame belonged to Edmund Cooper Mayo (1885 -1972), who was a past President Of Gorham Silver.
Art displayed in the frame: A 1946 R. R. Donnelley \"Deeptone\" lithograph of an Audubon reproduction print of Pileated Woodpeckers. Scarce in this 6/7 Elephant folio size. Print valuated via sale records/comps at $200; it is included with the frame.
Seller\'s note: The Mayo\'s had installed (probably in the 1940s) an art illuminating light/lamp on the top of the frame. It will be removed from the frame, for shipping purposes, but will be included with the frame, in the shipping box(s).SHIPPING: $70. Includes full insurance, and signature confirmation.I will also offer FREE personal delivery of the frame up to 70 miles from 02818. Alaska and Hawaii please ask for shipping quote before using the BIN.Any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask. Additional ultra-high definition photographs supplied upon request. Thanks for looking...and please take a peek at some of my other listings, as well.
