This is a wonderful cased set of 2 solid silver spoons made during the Art Deco period of design. They are simple and elegant in their design and have a smooth polished finish. The fitted case has a velvet exterior and satin and velvet interior. The retailer\'s mark is stamped inside the case and shows \'Geo Innes Brown Jeweller Kirriemuir NB\'.
Condition of the spoons is wonderful. There are no splits, dents or repairs, just the usual light surface scratches commensurate with silver which is 84 years old. They have retained their shape. The case is in very good condition and has a snap shut closing action with no gaps when closed. There is a small amount of foxing on the satin but this, in my opinion, is insignificant. A desirable, usable set of spoons which would compliment any collection. My photographs confirm condition, however further images are available if required.
Hallmarks are crisp showing Sheffield 1934, the makers being WS Savage & Co. Established in 1894, the business operated from premises known as Standard Works, Pond Street, Sheffield. They were renowned for the quality of their silver flatware. They ceased to trade around 1934 making these spoons amongst the last produced. In addition to the standard marks, there is a \'Jubilee\' mark which was added in honour of the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary.
The spoons are 13cm long and have a combined weight of 32g.
