Offered withoutreserve and a very low starting price is a commemorative mug issued to celebratethe 40th birthday of H.R.H. Prince Charles, Prince of Wales inNovember 1988. While not a limited run, this is an exclusive production itemfor one particular store in the North of England.

For those of you unfamiliarwith the Caverswall name, the company has been producing fine English chinafrom 1973 and is a particular favorite of the Prince of Wales – so much so thatthe company has the Royal Appointment from H.R.H.

The mug measures 3 5/8 inches high and has a diameter t the mouth of just over3 inches. Both the handle and the rim have a gilt line. There are two identicalimages on the mug of H.R.H. in profile, contained within an oval that reads “TOCELEBRATE THE FORTIETH BIRTHDAY OF H.R.RH THE PRINCE OF WALES” Between the twoimages, opposite the handle, is a Tudor Rose surrounded by thistles.

The base of the mug is marked “”TO CELEBRATE THE FORTIETHBIRTHDAY OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS THE PRINCE OF WALES ON THE 14 NOVEMBER 1988.Designed by Stephen Barnsley. Exclusively produced for Peter Jones China Ltd ofWakefield.” Underneath this is the Caverswall Logo.

Weight is 226 grams or 8 ounces.

Condition is excellent. No cracks, chips or dings and withall images clear and bright. Please see the photos, which form a part of thedescription.

This is an attractive and unusual item of Royal memorabilia celebratinga landmark occasion.
