Major McLaren commanded the 6th Minnesota Infantry on the 1863 Dakota Territory Indian Campaign andpromoted in 1864to Colonel of the 2nd Minnesota Cavalry whichhe led on the 1864 Dakota Territory Indian Campaign. Brevetted to Brigadier General, died July 30, 1886 and is buried at Oakland Cemetery, St. Paul, MN. Heis featured prominently in the book I wrote and have for sale on buy now option.
