This old shield is from an Aboriginal the Aboriginal communitycalled Utopia which at the time of collection was the former Utopia pastoral lease . It covers an area of 3,500 square kilometres, transected by the Sandover River, and lies on a traditional boundary of the Alyawarra and Anmatjirra people, the two language groups which predominate there today. The shield was was collected by Tom McCourt in the early 70s. and has his hand written collection location marked on it.
