Original piece of ceramic twisted prism for a course exercise reproducing a cubist sculpture. The exercise was conducted by well-known ceramic sculptor, Enric Mestre. Made in Spain (1977ca.) by Juan Iranzo, then a Spanish student of the Escuela de Arte y Oficios de Valencia, using techniques of applying an oiled and burnished slip, single fired at high temperatures; smoking techniques, either naked Raku, carbonation in a closed oven, or simple smoked paper, wood, and other fuels. It has minor scratches, most barely noticeable due to their location and/or position. Juan Iranzo became a technician for the Escuela de Caminos, Canales y Puertos of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain. He was at some point, in charge of the scale models designed by engineers for today´s Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias (Valencia), an European jewel produced by architects and engineers such as Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. Before his experience in Valencia, he was a professor at the School of Architecture of the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus 1967-1977ca.
