Circa 1906 Charter Oak Pattern
Hard to find tomato server in the popular Charter Oak pattern, which was first released in 1906. This silverplated pattern was made by 1847 Rogers Bros/International Silver Co. of Meriden Connecticut. This elegant utensil is used to serve sliced tomatoes or cucumbers. The classic design features oak leaves and acorns, and the handle was never engraved with a monogram. This utensil measures 7 ½” (19 cm) in length and has a bowl diameter of 2 ¾” (7 cm). We are including the anti-tarnish flannel pouch (from a Boston retailer) that the piece was in when we purchased it.
Condition: This wonderful old serving piece is in excellent condition, with no wear to the silver layer. There are small scratches and scuffs as would be expected from normal use, but nothing too noticeable. Please examine the close-up photos carefully to assess the condition for yourself. The flannel storage pouch is a bit soiled and has faint spotting on the backside, but no odors.
