C.J. Vander was the last of England\'s preeminent silver firms, creatingexceptional silver masterpieces using the time-honored traditions of thesilversmith\'s art. In fact, they were one of the last remaining Englishflatware makers to employ the age old method of hand forging flatware, whereeach piece of silver starts out as an ingot and is formed by a silversmithusing a hammer. After the pieces were forged they would be hammered flat,polished, chased and decorated, and then polished again, with all of theseprocesses accomplished by hand. Though time-consuming, such craftsmanshipensured a product that was superior in every possible way. This richly ornate Hand-Forged heavy gaugesterling silver pattern \"CHASED AND PIERCED VINE\" is from the design first produced by the Victoriansilversmith Francis Higgins for the Great Exhibition of 1851 at The CrystalPalace.
Each piece is carefully pierced and chased to give the impression of interwovenvines. This was the most expensive pattern that they ever made, in the vermeil - the pieces are sterling coated in gold. CUSTOM MADE ITEMS
What is a Custom Made piece?
Custom made pieces are made from an original piece in your pattern that are not otherwise available or difficult to find on the market, especially in discontinued patterns. Hollow handle items are made from an original handle in your pattern with a new stainless implement. Then the piece is hand-finished by a highly skilled silversmith in the USA.
Now that many sterling patterns have been discontinued, custom pieces have become a staple in the sterling silver industry and are widely offered by mainstream sterling flatware dealers.
All custom orders are made-to-order and usually ship within 5-7 business days. Please be aware of this extended shipping time on Custom Made items when ordering.
DOMESTIC SHIPPING:
Domestic shipping is FREE on all items.
Most orders under $1000 will be shipped via USPS. Orders over $1000 will usually be shipped via UPS.
Signature is required on all orders over $250 (per policy).
Our broad-coverage insurance covers all orders we ship.

If we are doing an antique show and the item you ordered is packed in a case, we will notify you about the shipping delay.
