CHILMARK NAVAJO KACHINA DANCER PEWTER FIGURINE BY DON POLLAND.Polland has earned his place next to Remington, Russell and Frasier. Polland has invested over twenty-five years of his life to an art form and body of work that has integrity and performance. He is a true American Original. This Indian sculpture is figurine #1281 in a limited edition of only 2500 pieces. Pueblo Indians believed the \"Kachinas\" were super-natural beings, spirits of their much-loved ancestors. Priests of the Kachina cult don masks and impersonate their gods. There is one Indian in this sculpture. He is dressed in ceremonial dress. It is most interesting that you cannot see the Indian\'s face. He has on a headdress with horns. There is a pewter detailed feather on the top of the headdress. He has a ceremonial club in each hand. His stance is most interesting because his hip is turned and he looks as though he is dancing. His physique is wonderfully detailed. He also has a nicely detailed belt and skirt. The character of the Indian has been captured by Hudson artisans. This is a very nice size and ideal for a desk, table etc. It is mounted on a wooden base that measures 2-1/2\" in diameter. It stands 5\" high. It was issued in 1981. The name of the artist-Polland 81 and fine pewter is on the back of the sculpture. There is a Chilmark seal on the bottom of the sculpture with the name KACHINA DANCER Polland, 1981 and fine pewter. In addition, it is sculpture #1281 in a limited edition of 2500 pieces.The sculpturewas handcast and handcrafted in the USA by Chilmark. Comes in the original box with the original packing, brand new and has never been displayed. It also comes with the Request for Registration and an information card. It is Chilmark #CB2263. This is truly a wonderful sculpture.
