China, YongzhengVery important porcelain plate with decoration of the coat of arms of the Pratt family from Kent, azure (normally black), fascia charged with three stars and accompanied by three elephant heads two “en chef” and one “en point ”. Arms stamped with a chevalier helm depicting an elephant, helm itself is surmounted by a crest shaped as an elephant hide. The surrounding is richly decorated by acanthus leaves and interlacing in grisaille and red under glaze. Inner rim decorated in blue under glaze of a trellis frieze limited by four floral cartouches. Outer rim decorated with four sprays of peonies, lotus and chrysanthemums. China, Yongzheng Period (1723 -1735, circa 1725-1735Diameter : 39.5 cm (15-1/2 in.) Accident formerly restored on outer rim, enamelling fault on outer rim and minor wear on gilt
