We are pleased to offer this exceptional double walled c1880 Chinese export dragon bowl.

Signed for Luenwo.

Known almost exclusively for beautiful floral designs. Luenwo dragon work is not often found.

Trade silver prices have skyrocketed the last few years. We just returned from Northeast sales. There a common six inch dragon box sold for well over $2000. USD. That said, what is this rare Luenwo dragon bowl worth.

Classic tapering circular form.

Double wall construction.

Normally found only on Meiji period Japanese silver.

As such, the brilliant four claw Chinese dragon was applied to the outer wall. And artistically hand chased as shown.

The dragon with bulging eyes ablaze. Mouth open exposing two razor tip fangs. Long tendrils tapering to end. Twin set of horns swept back as if by the force of wind.

The dragon\'s long convulsing body comprised of hundreds, if not thousands of diamond facet cut scales.

Never monogrammed.

Hallmarked as shown.

This rare double walled Chinese silver dragon center bowl 8 inches diameter and 5 tall and weighs 28 1/2 standard ounces.

In excellent condition. Rich, lustreous silver patina throughout. The beautifully applied dragon retains its original crisp, vibrant detail. Mild interior wear and a small restoration to base, likely from time of manufacture, see last image.
