Presented is a very pretty CHINESE EXPORT SILVER TEAPOT OF SQUARE ORGANIC FORM, SIGNED c.1900.

The background of the teapot is HEAVILY hand HAMMERED. There are 2 CHASED PANELS (on either side of the teapot). One panel has WELL DETAILED BIRDS perched in a PLUM BLOSSOM TREE. The second panel is of BAMBOO TREES and FLOWERS. Both panels are highlighted against an ORANGE PEEL BACKGROUND. There is a HEAVILY CHASED and APPLIED BRANCH MOTIF, which surrounds the bird panel and follows on to the back of the teapot (below the handle). The handle is in the form of BAMBOO BRANCHES, these are applied to the teapot. The pull off lid has a large floral finial.

This is a lovely little square shaped teapot, beautifully made and pleasing to the eye.

There is a square SEAL LIKE MARK to the left of the handle and an unrecognisable mark to the underside. I would date this teapot to c.1900.

The teapot is approx 16.5cm (over 6.5 inches) end of handle to tip of spout. It stands nearly 12cm high (4.75 inches). It has a nice solid feel and weighs approx 9.5 troy ounces (295 grams).

CONDITION ; EXCELLENT, NO REPAIRS OR DAMAGE, LOVELY CRISP CONDITION. There is an old solder mark to the underside of the lid, just under the finial. I feel this has always been there.
