Gallia Hallmark +number 4204 .Gallia is the mark used by Christofle in the early 1900\'s .

The Gallia mark used in c.1900-c.1930 contains an inscription \"GALLIA\" which meansORFEVRERIE GALLIA\" Together with the Alfenide mark means Gallia metal with silver- plating.This mark was probably used for the remaining part of Gallia production on rue des Marais in Paris.. The length of the words GALLIA METALare 5 mm, the ratio of the length of GALLIA word to its height is 5mm. The size of the mark for silver-plating with a goat head is now of a smaller size, 2.0mm. Rare.!!!GALLIA METAL: One of the most important steps for Christofle firm was the creation of the Gallia line. This trademark name applied to a new alloy, similar to pewter but more durable. Gallia metal was ideally suited to casting and less expensive to manufacture and plate. The Gallia line opened a new market of high quality goods at more affordable prices.

I have had this set in my private collection for a number of years It is truly pristine!

The four pieces are hallmarked ‘Shield w/Rooster’ (Gallia Metal), ‘Goat’ inside an square cartouche & numbered ‘4204’.

Absolutely superb item, decorated with fabulous acanthus leaves which surround the bodies and then form the handles which have what could be iy insulators.Absolutely lovely condition.. There do not appear to be any dents or scratches which are clearly shown in the photographs. The insides of the pots and the creamer show use discoloration. This is normal for items that were made one hundred years ago. The sugar is pristine inside.

The eleganttray (14 inches x 17 inches) is NOT , I REPEAT, NOT Gallia and is unmarked. It is a beautiful addition to the Christofle set and is of the un-engraved body design as were many of Christofle’s trays. It has NO scratches or dents back or front as shown in the pictures.
