DESCRIPTION:

For sale is an antique albumen carte de visite CDV photograph featuring a Civil War portrait of Captain Edgar W. Dennis. The photo was published by B. F. Evans & Sons, 14 Main Street, Norfolk, Virginia. It is a head shot of Captain Dennis wearing a single breasted frock coat, the buttons and captain\'s shoulder straps are visible. He was a member of the 4th Regiment New York Heavy Artillery. He was enrolled in Company H December 27th, 1861, at Canandaigua; commissioned as First Lieutenant February 20th, 1862; mustered out July 11, 1862, by reason of appointment to Captain and Aide-de-Camp on the staff of the Judge Advocate General. The back of the card has an old ink signature that reads E.W. Dennis, Capt. A.D.C.

Major and Judge-Advocate U.S. Volunteers, January, 1865. Brevet Lieutenant-Colonel, and Colonel U.S. Volunteers, for faithful and meritorious services in his department. CONDITION:

The condition of the photo is very good to excellent with minimal wear. The corners are crisp and the margins appear full. The pictures are the best indicator as to condition, please use the zoom feature and check them out.
