An original Civil War Confederate document. It is dated October 1, 1863 from Lynchburg which is in Virginia. Some of the writings is hard to read, it looks like it says, Received of Willm H Preus Shff the following slave viz: George sent from Bedford County Va by John W. West for work on fortifications at and near this City. By order of Col. W.H. Stevens Chief Engineer D.N.V. It is signed by someone named E E Mason

Thedocument has wear and some stain marks and wear on the edges and some small hole marks or tears, etc.
