original Civil War Confederateletter. It looks like it is dated July 31, 1863 and I think it is addressed to a person at Patrick Court House Patrick County Virginia. The writer mentions negroes, I think he is making reference to slaves. Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letter reads:

Sir

Your claims, amounting to $68.55 for receiving.................and delivering to the proper officers certain deserters and conscripts named in your accounts, and also for receiving boarding and delivering certain negroes which had been impressed to work on the public defences, have been suspended, under the has wear and stain marks and some tear you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for looking. Please note I list new items every week.
