We are offering for your offer a stereo view card titled “(82) - 5561 - “High water mark” of civil War and view south to Round Top, Gettysburg, PA. Copyright Underwood & Underwood”. There is no copyright date indicated, but I would imagine it to be close to the 1903 date of the other cards I am offering. Unlike the other cards, this one has a detailed description of the battle on the reverse. The “high water mark” refers to an area on Cemetery Ridge which marks the most distant point reached by the Confederate forces during Pickett’s charge on July 3, 1863. The Confederate Army’s best chance of victory was ended here.This card shows a view of the battlefield, cannon, cannon balls and a monument being contemplated by a seated gentleman and a horse drawn carriage of tourists. It may very well be that the older bearded man in the photograph was a Civil War soldier. The card is in good condition. There are no bends, no rips and no liquid spots. We are selling without reserve.
