This is an original signed note by Civil War era actress Maggie Mitchell, in ink, all in her hand, to anacquaintancethat reads, \"Your letter just received With pleasure I comply with your request Very truly yrs Maggie Mitchell Jan 22nd 1906\". The note, in very good conditionand writtenboldly in ink,measures 5-3/8\" x 3-1/2\" and is written on a light beige color paper which shows signs on the back of having been previously mounted to presumably an autograph book, as seen in the photographs. There is a bit of staining/aging on the note which does not in any way detract from the content or signature. Please see the photographs for condition.

Maggie Mitchell (1832–1918) was an American actress, born in New York. She made her first regular appearance as Julia in The Soldier\'s Daughter in 1851. She was a known southern sympathizer who would stomp on the American Flag on stage. She was also reported to be one of John Wilkes Booth’s lovers. The part in which she was best liked and known for was Fanchon the Cricket. Upon retiring from the stage, she went to live in New York. After her death on March 22, 1918, Maggie Mitchell was interred in Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
