For sale is a letter and envelope dated July 24th,1865. The letter is written by a Chaplin named John A. Jerome from the United States Sanitary CommissionnearAlexandria, Virginia.He is writing to the father of a boy named Mahlon Herrick that has been suffering from a fever for 4 weeks and is failing. Please notice the stamp in the upper left corner.
