original Civil Warletter. At the top it mentions Holly Hall which is in Elkton Maryland. Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letter reads:

My dear Nora

Your nice agreeable letter was none the less appreciated..............We heard from Sister Mary today they are boarding out at Pikesville near Balto I like it exceedingly, Some of their friends are at the same house for the summer with their carriages & horses which makes it quite pleasant. The \"Rebs\" were there not two days before............Well I suppose by this time Brother is in Georgia. I expect he is glad to pass the opportunity of seeing more of the \"Southern Confederacy\" but it is a dreadful season to go so far has wear and stain marks, there is wear on the you have any questions feel free to ask.
