original Civil Warletterdated Fair Haven Conn Sept 23 1863.Some of the writing is hard to read I translated the best I could. The letterreads:

Dear Millie

Enclosed is cash three dollars..............I went too see the surgeon at US Hospital yesterday on Eds business about 500 sick & convalescent soldiers, I was told were has wear and stain you have any questions feel free to ask. Thank you for looking. Please note I list new items every week.
