One of two types of a scarce/rare brass political/patriotic presidential campaign button for the Abraham Lincoln civil war re-election Nov. 8, 1864. Lincoln ran and was re-elected under the umbrella of the National UNION Party, composed of republicans and \"War Democrats.\" The button is a two piece button with a brass top crimped over an unpainted tin back. The stamped brass top has an unfurled American Flag on a standard with the word UNION over it. There are 13 stars framing the Flag. The button 9/16ths inch in diameter. It has a flexible thin wire loop shank. The button is in excellent condition. The button has not been cleaned. I leave that decision to the new owner. A great deal of information re: Lincoln and his affiliation with the National Union Party can be found on Google. Rarely this button will be offered for sale by the Military, Political, Patriotic dealers websites. It is a difficult button to acquire on today\'s market.Please be aware you are viewing the button under extreme lighting and magnification.
