Civil War Relics New Hampshire Volunteers Hat Letter Insignia - Very Rare:
$200.00

These are hat letters from the New Hampshire Volunteers Regiment enlisted in the Union Army 1862. I have seen photographs with these letters proudly displayed on a soldiers hat from NewHampshire. Very rare find. I dug these out of a pit in Stafford County Virginia, hut was part of a Union winter camp in 1862 after the battle of Fredericksburg December 11-15 1862. This pit was a one time a hut or home for a New Hampshire Volunteer fromDecember 1863 to April 1863.
The letters are sterling silver plated with Lead backs. You can still see the pins on the back of the letters that were used to forhold the letters to the hat (see photos).
Very Rare find. US box plates and beltbuckles are common and sell for at least $200-$300 a piece.
