Alfred Ellis, of Dedham MA, was mustered into
\"I\" Co. MA 35th Infantry on August 16, 1862 as a private. He was promoted to Corporal and then Sergeant. Ellis was wounded September 17, 1862 at Antietam, MD
and again on September 30, 1864 at Poplar Springs Church, VA.

I received your letter last night, and I will write a few lines back to let you
know that I am well, and we like better down here than we did up at Fredrickburgh It is as warm here now as it is at home may, but how long we shall stay here I don\'t know but probaly 4 or 5 weeksAbout Jo White note you may do as you think best you can get John to do the business, write or send me word I when you get this letterWhat have you done with my money at home.
