Reynolds (don\'t know which of 10 listed in the data base), Cumberland MD, April 18, 63, 2 pages to friend Robt, great content, he is still in the service of Old Abe, though of no account to him to help free the Negroes (uses derogatory term), he has changed the policy of the war as I came out to fight for the Constitution and the Union, I am not fit to undergo the exposure on account of my health (he could be in Cumberland if), if I don\'t get my discharge will get a situation in the hospital brigade here.
Wm. P is in the same fix and not fit for active duty, this thing of discharges has been played out and they need them here to send those fit to the field (really sounds like they are in a hospital), Ii see the democrats are really playing it up with the abolitionists at home, and hope they may be the cause of stopping this war soon though the Leagues may still try to keep up the fire, I suppose they all call you all traitors, but all they want is the keep up their damned party for the good of Old Abe, a bit more content, signs G. H. Reynolds.
