This is theCivil War Soliders Picture + 3 Hand Written Letters 1862 - 1863 Aaron Johnson plus 1921 GAR medal. This item is sold as used condition. In my opinion, it is in nice condition. There is wear/dirt on the items, see pics. The letters have rips/tears at the crease folds. The 1862 letter has the biggest tear at bottom crease fold. The picture has fading/dirt/wear, see pics. It shows rifle, pistol andbayonet. It looks like the photo is on cardboard paper, see pics below.
The letters are hard to read, he can not write well, spelling is hard to understand. The first letter is from 1862. He got mustard? into the U.S Army on Oct 6th. On Oct 7th he got uniform, 2 shirts, 2 stockings, 2 pants, blanket, shoes and etc.. The second letter (with the blue star) is from Feb. 27th 1863 Brooks Station. He talks aboutwhat to give people if he don\'t return home. The third letter is from March 1863 Brooks Station State of Virginia. Ibelieve he is talking about sending picture to mother, hard to say. The rebels on the other side of water.The letters are from Aaron Johnson, see pics below.The 3 letters and picture came together. I do not know if the photo is Aaron Johnson or not. The gar medal did not come with the letters and picture.
The 1921 gar medal is fragile the yellow ribbon is ripping, see pics. There isa lot of wear on the back of medals. The back of pin, 4 metal pieces have yellowish around around them. I don\'t know if that is original orreglued, see pic. The case has yellowing on the white material inside. The case lid does not stay up, it falls down.
