Bright 19th c Antique Sampler. Hammond.Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee 1897
A lovely vibrant sampler created by 12 year old Alice Hammond to celebrate Queen Victorias Diamond Jubilee in 1897. She has carefully stitched 2 alphabets and a set of numbers in the top third of the sampler, followed by closely stitched images of a heart, a cross, and an anchor on a multi coloured background. Alice has then stitched:

Colours are exceptionally bright for age of sampler, condition of stitches very good. Housed in a later frame, ready to hang and enjoy.Displays very well. Lots of charm and character to this special sampler.
A wonderful focal point and great piece of social history to own.
