For your consideration: Bill Wickham aka \"Dirty Billy\" makes the finest hats anywhere for reenactors or collectors of militaria / uniforms. This particular hat was purchased by myself at his Gettysburg, PA shop. Made of red wool and antique gold braid, this hat is of outstanding quality. The lining is quilted and bears the label of J. H. Silverberg of Charleston, SC. The buttons are \"A\" for artillery but could easily be swapped out. As with everything Bill does, the attention to detail is outstanding. This has never been worn, only resting behind the glass doors of my bookcase. There is no size label; however, I take a size 7 1/8 and this is just a wee bit loose on me so I would say it is a size 7 1/4. Bill makes his hats one at a time; he is a one man operation and if you\'ve ever ordered a custom piece you know how long you have to wait from submission to receipt of your order. Having waited for a custom piece myself, I can honestly say it is well worth the wait. The original price on this was just over $500 as it has the antique gold braid. This is a superlative piece and not something you come across very often aside from buying direct from Billy.
