We are pleased to be offering you today a beautiful and genuine Antique circa 1900 Continental solid Silver and Enamel rectangular Cigarette case marked with the makers mark LF and 900 for the silver purity and another mark i can not identify but the case is typical of the quality produced in Austria in the late 19th and early 20th century.The case is decorated with a beautiful hand painted scene of two hunting Dogs which are Setters and as you can see are pointing towards probably a game bird which the pair have seen and are showing there owner where it is .Hunting scene and Enamel case showing Dogs are of the rarer kind and highly collectible.With so many of the silver and enamel case the enamel is often cracked or large chips are missing as enamel on silver does not like to be dropped. This case however has survived remarkably well with only a tiny flea bite to the bottom left corner in our images which we have enlarged for you to see but as you can see from the other images it is not noticeable.On the inside there has been a presentation inscription which has erased and otherwise just normal age related wear fine scratches to the enamel only seen when you turn the case to catch the light and again when looking at the case in images can not be seen.There is the odd small indent to the reverse which again are very mild as the case is of very heavy construction and is shown in images.The latch works properly and closes tightly We are very picky on our description and are harsh on any faults.
