Coin Story

Samurai is the name used, predominantly in the West, for warriors of pre-modern Japan. The expression Bushi is more common in the Land of the Rising Sun itself. Over time, Samurai ideology was strongly influenced by Zen Buddhism. Thus, a firm code of honour for justice and the protection of the weak and defenceless developed. Bushido or «the path of the warrior» also stood for self-sacrifice, absolute loyalty, bravery, maximum weapon mastery and being on constant standby to fight.

Reverse Design

The reverse captures two samurai fighting with each other. The characters are very detailed and offset themselves from the silver background, due to the applied color. The background ist finely engraved and very detailed as well. There is also an original piece of a samurai armour on the coin.

Obverse Design

The obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, the country of issue and the face value.

Packaging

The History of Samurai coin comes encapsuled with a wooden presentation case and a Certificate of Authenticity.
