Cubeb, Smoker, jointed composition boudoir dollThis sale is for a very hard to find Cubeb boudoir doll. Unlike other boudoir dolls this one is all composition and the most unusual thing is that it is jointed at the elbows and and knees too so she can be posed. The cubeb name came from a brand of cigarettes. The company used these dolls for advertising to encourage women to start smoking. This happened in the 1920\'s when women had just been given the right to vote and they started to become more modern in their thinking and acting as new age women. They started wearing pants ( trousers), smoking, going to night clubs, and of course wearing more revealing clothes as well. So this doll represents this new era. As with other boudoir dolls women put them on their beds or in their rooms.
This gorgeous one is in very good condition with her original blonde wig, original cigarette, clothes look original and shoes. Her body is very good with only a little chip behind one ear. Her face is beautiful and so expressive with pretty features. Her joints are good, head is loose but still holds a pose. Clothes are free of damage and odors. One heel is missing from a shoe. Her pants may have had elastic at one time but now are pinned in back.
