This piece has a wonderful massive primitive look, combined with fine workmanship and detail. The photos do not fully show the vivid blue colors of these stones! The blues are vibrant. This piece rivets the eye from across a room. The craftsmanship is excellent, combining fine traditional detail with heavy strength on a large scale. The piece weighs about 314 grams, or slightly over 10 Troy ounces. It is not like the lightweight newer pieces made for the tourist trade. The sterling silver has a deep patina of age and I would estimate it was made around 1950 or maybe earlier. We have not attempted to polish off the patina, which we feel adds to its beauty and sets off the rich blue of the stones. You can polish it up so the patina is lighter, if you wish. As is typical of pieces from that era, it is not signed or marked. Different parts of the necklace have been tested and all test as sterling silver. I don\'t even see any dents in the hand made bench beads, and they seem sturdier than most bench beads in squash blossom necklaces. Please examine the closeups. The forms look massive and the stones are large; most of the stones are about 1 inch long including the ones in the blossoms on the sides.
