*This \'DickensWare\' Series, based on characters created by Charles Dickens in his many stories, was produced by Royal Doulton, in England, from 1908 to WWII about 1940, and maybe again after the war until about 1951. * This Sugar Bowl shows the character \"Alfred Jingle\" from the story \"The Pickwick Papers\" written in 1836. * Alfred Jingle was a strolling actor and charlatan, noted for telling bizarre stories in a very distinctively extravagent style. He was one of the central characters of the \'Picwick Club\' in the story. *

* TheSugar Bowlis Porcelain, with beautifully painted scenes around the entire surface, two handles,and a nicely posed \'Alfred Jingles\'telling one of his many tales. * It stands 2-1/2\" tall, 5-1/2\" across the handles, 2-3/4\" wide. It is in MINT condition, NO chips, cracks, scratches,or rubs, NO paint loss or fade, NO shine fade, and NO crazing, it was neve used, only displayed in a curio cabinet. * It is fully marked with the Royal Doulton Logo, a \"Lion on a Crown, over a Circle with Royal Doulton, Made In England\"- plus the \'DickensWare\' Emblem of a Circle with the \'Bearded Man and \'Royal Doulton, Dickensware\', - and the Name in script \"Alfred Jingle\", and #5?2?16?4?7?in ink, butit is very hard to makesome of thenumbers.
