Here is an exceptionally nice early example of a massively wide No.7 Hand Saw with 26\" blade and 10 point teeth as manufactured circa 1876-1888 by Henry Disston & Sons in Philadelphia. This saw appears to have seen little use and remains in fine condition and quite usable.
The 26\" blade is straight and well tensioned. It retains a light grey patina, very smooth overall with only a slight trace of light oxidation. The etch is quite bold and stands out proudly. The blade retains a nice full width and measures 2 5/8\" at the toe and 7 3/8\" at the heel.
The beech wood handle is in exceptionally fine condition for a saw of this age. There are no cracks, chips or other damage. Both horns are perfect with no damage at all. The original finish is well preserved and their are traces of the original Disston sticker around the medallion. It has a beautiful aged patina with a golden glow. There is a neatly done owner\'s mark on the back side.
The 10 point teeth are very sharp and perfectly uniform in shape and spacing. There are no chipped or broken teeth. The toothed edge is prominently crowned (breasted) as per factory spec. This saw is ready to work.
