For your consideration I am offering a striking - late 19th century - Doulton Burslem Pedestal Ovoid Floral motif tall Floor Vase with raised gold gilding details and made in England .. Circa 1886 - 1901..
This gorgeous 22 inches tall Floor Vase has the burnished and marbled blush ivory ground with gold sponging and hand-painted with large chrysanthemum style flowers in alternating tones of turquoise, blues, plum purples and dark reds with assorted shades of greens for leaves - Highlighted and enhanced throughout with raised gilt tubing details... The pedestal gilded base has the gold gilding bands with garnets of white flowers along with raised gold tubing.. Flared garnet neck banded with gold gilding with small hand-painted flowers and paisley leaves all again enhanced with raised gold tubing - interior has the gold sponging...
Approximate measurements for the Floor Vase are:
22 inches tall - 6.5 inches interior sponge gold rim diameter - 7.25 inches base diameter - circumference of 34 inches at widest area ..
Back stamp states Doulton Burslem with crown on manufactured symbol ..This Doulton Burslem mark was used from 1886 to mark the appointment of Doulton as potters to His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII, following the death of Queen Victoria in 1901...Timeline for this particular backstamp is1886-1901..The word \"England\" may appear from around 1891-1901..
Light signs of previous use should be expected consistent with age - Overall condition is excellent - free ofchips, cracks or restorations, stains, very light to none on any surface markings or chipping to the hand-painted floral decor or the raised gold gilding - light crazing is present only notice it on the underside when taking the backstamp picture - typical of earthenware pieces..Showcase quality..Any imperfections do seem to be craft related - one area of the flowers have some white - not sure if this was planned or craft related - one spot of slight indentation on the top rim prior to the gold added - manufactured.. Picture No. 10 shows a underside nick on the interior of the rim - zoom in to find...
