Title (German): David Yurman Sterling Silber Kabel 18k Gold Diamond Blau Chalcedon Armreif
Title (French):
David Yurman Sterling Silver Câble 18k Gold Blue Diamond Bracelet Calcédoine
Description: You are now offerding on a signed designer sterling silver & 18k yellow gold gemstone bangle bracelet. Made by David Yurman, this oval bangle features Yurman's signature cable motif in a double row of sterling silver. The bracelet is made like a cuff with an opening for the wrist and each side of the opening is finished with 18k gold end caps that are studded with pave diamonds. The end caps encircle a large half-moon shaped dome cabochon of translucent violet-blue chalcedony adding color and visual interest - this is really gorgeous. All the bells and whistles here! The bracelet is created with a very minimal bit of stretch to fit it over your wrist but please read all the detailed size info below to be sure before offerding. (See more detailed size info below) Terrific gift opportunity here!
Our sale estimates for this are between $2,000 to $2,500 but our reserve is half of that! Good luck buyers! Please visit our other sales for great antiques and terrific timepieces!
Here are the specifications Please note; all stones graded, measured & calculated while mounted
Type of Jewelry: Designer bracelet
Gem Stones: Blue chalcedony & diamond
Approx. Measurement or Weight of Gem Stones: Two approx 10 X 5mm fancy cabochons of chalcedony, fifty-four 1.3mm & two 1.7mm round full cut diamonds giving this a total diamond weight of approx 0.60cttw
Clarity: Diamonds; VS/1 to VS/2 Chalcedony; translucent
Manufacture method: Various, setting pieces are machine made, stones are hand set & bracelet is hand assembled
Approx. Size or length: Inner circumference of bracelet measures approx 6-1/4" including the gap. The gap opening is 5/8" wide. The double cable measures approx 3/8" wide (10mm). I personally have a 6-3/4" wrist that is approx 1-5/8" thick and the gap opening is not wide enough for me to even attempt getting this on my wrist.
Condition: Very good, the stones are intact and look great. The setting shows very minimal surface wear. Overall, I say ready to wear.
History of Company: David Yurman grew up on Long Island, N.Y. and took his first steps into the business world while he was in high school by selling small sculptures in the cafeteria. At age 16 he was introduced to Ernesto Gonzales, a Cuban welder & sculptor. David found an outlet in sculpting and this developed over the next two decades while working as an apprentice for two renown sculptors Jacques Lipshitz & Theodore Rozack. David left for California after a year at NYU and found refuge at the beatnik artist colony of Big-Sur. David returned to Greenwich Village in the late 1960's and began working with sculptor Hans Van de Bovenkamp. It was in his studio that David met a gifted painter named Sybil Kleinrock who had also just returned from the same beatnik scene in California. Fortuitously, during an art opening Sybil was wearing one of David's pieces and it caught the attention of the gallery owner who asked if it was for sale. Recognizing an opportunity, the two of them formed Putnam Art Works where they exibited their works and later married by the end of the decade. Their experiences laid the groundwork for the David Yurman brand & company in 1980. He even did a brief stint with Cartier and later Yurman applied to Tiffany who turned him down! He now recalls that as one of the best things that has ever happened to him. By the mid 80's, he made a name for himself with his cable bracelet which has become iconic and a signature style for his line. His rise in the jewelry world was fast with his cable jewelry designs in the mid 1980's. It was a refreshing change, at the time, to have luxury jewelry that could go from day to night and still carry an affordable price tag.
