This is a Medium Nicho / Retablo, Day of the Dead / Dias de los Muertos with a Skeleton Mermaid figure with fun details... Her arms even move...
This lovely piece was all hand made and hand painted in Oaxaca Mexico by an artist named ArturoBecerra.
This is a contempoarary example of a long tradition ofretablos, where the artist has replaced a religious figure with an Muertos image. It measures11inches tall by5 1/4 inches wide and 1 3/8inch deep. There is a hole in the back so it can be hung on a nail. Or it can be free standing.
