In the 1970s and 80s, the Myrtle Beach Ponderosa Campgrounds and the nearby Sherwood Forest amusement park were popular vacation spots as this eight panel illustratedpromotional folderwould indicate. Even George Washington spent a night here in April, 1791, the guest of Jeremiah Vereen. Shown in the brochure isthe historicsign noting the locationnear the campgroundswhere President Washington slept. A mapdisplays the plot plan for the 400 Ponderosa beachfront camp sites. The Ponderosa Campgrounds and the Sherwood Forest Park were leveled in the 1980s to make way for luxury resorts.
